Digital Community Coordinator
Matthew (or Matt, if you prefer!) grew up in sunny and dry Albuquerque, NM, but made his way to Knoxville in mid-2021 when he was accepted into the University of Tennessee for a PhD in mechanical engineering. Tech-savvy by nature, Matt puts his skills to great use by helping manage the digital side of our group by making it easier for everyone to connect, find resources, and feel welcome whether they’re joining us online or in person. Matt is also a strong advocate for online privacy and cybersecurity so rest assured knowing KGS digtal systems are safe and secure.
Community means everything to Matt, and being an active, engaged member of this group is something he truly values. When he’s not buried in research or writing computer code, you’ll probably spot him zipping around town on his e-bike, hiking the Smokies, kayaking local rivers, experimenting with smart-home gadgets, or finding new ecofreindly and sustainable living ideas. He shares life’s adventures with his wonderful husband James and their two unique cats, Axel and Sushi.
